Subwoofer in stereo

Does anyone know why i am not hearing my subwoofer when i switch from dolby or dts inputs to Cd in stereo ????. I have an old Arcam avr1000 and have just added a Mordaunt short Ms308 subwoofer. Its connected up via a Ixos lead with a Y splitter on the end to the inputs on the sub marked LT & Rt . As i say its fine with dvd or tv via Aux in dolby or Dts. If anyone can help PLEASE do either here or at castlerock@hotmail.co.uk its very frustrating, i have never added a sub before !!!!!!!

Long shanks, this post should be in the Home Cinema Section - probs why you havent had much response.

But to answer your question, when you say Stereo (I hope you dont mean Direct Mode) - but generally for Stereo the Amp needs to be told to also output to the subwoofer in Stereo Mode. Consult your manual, or play around with the sound settings whilst in Stereo mode. Happened to me before.

Probably a setting with the LFE. Check the manual if you still have it.
