Have recently purchased a pair of B&W PM1's. Run them on Harman Kardon HK990 integrated amp.

I need some advice on a subwoofer for the system. Any suggestions ?

Personally, I'd look at sealed subs, as they tend to be more agile and better balanced, unless you want ultimate depth, in which case you'll need to look at ported subs. As an alternative, the KEF R400b subwoofer is a similar design to the PV1D in that they're both force cancelling, which increases resolution thanks to little or no cabinet resonance. The R400B will give better depth as it has a slightly larger cabinet volume. And corners.

Welcome to the forum.

You don't mention budget or room size so it's a bit of a guess.

There are good suggestions above and I would also add something from the BK range, if on a tighter budget: http://www.bkelec.com/hifi/sub_woofers.htm

or Paradigm Seismic 110 and Velodyne SPL 800 Ultra, if got more to spend.

Hi Rick

The room is open plan 4m x 8m.

Would not want to spend more than £1000.

Thanks

I use a PV1 in my setup. I'd definitely look at the new PV1D.

For music, speed and precision is more important than outright depth.
