Hi guys.

I am going to try if there should be a good streamer with a quality dac in one box. Preferably full bodied, warm sound, as my amp/speaker sound a little tight/thin. Has to do dsd hd sound.

Max price 800 pounds.

Anyone know something?

What's your current setup (amp + speakers) and what source are you using?

Pmc 5.23 with norma amp, sounds very good. But needs some warmt and fullness. Computer as source right now, but need streamer/dac as it is better.

I wouldn't look for 'warmth' in a DAC personally but there are some 'no oversampling' products which according to users sound warmer and valve dacs.

Can you audition the Yamaha wxc-50 where you live. One of my friends who has snake ears had my chord 2qute and yamaha wxc-50 over for a month. And he felt the Yamaha sounded just as good for 1/3rd of the price. And he also bought a wxc 50, despite having a high end north star dac . Worth a audition atleast in my book :)

I like the Yamaha WXC-50 which I've used for a year. It isn't warm sounding though.

Tough to recommend anything really as most streamers will be neutral or close to. You could use your PC as a streamer and add a warmer sounding DAC. Much easier to find than a warm sounding streamer.

Can you try Chord Mojo with your existing setup? It would add body to the sound. I moved it on as it sounded slightly too rich with the equipment I had at the time.

The Oppo range of universal disc players will make a pretty good streamer.

Surprised no one has mentioned this.

Ticks all the boxes, dead on the budget and excellent reviews in the specialist press.

Been looking at it for my own system that is getting a bit of an upgrade in the next few months.

An excellent Swiss Army knife type bit of kit. Does pretty much everything very well indeed.

Find an older 105 and you are quids in.

Initially I thought the OP meant one-box then realised he didn't need an included amp hence my suggestion. It's what I use. Currently not as as a streamer, though it is a good one, but normally playing files off a solid-state hard drive attached to it.

JCAT USB Isolator $423

I've been using JPLAY as my go-to computer-based music player/streamer for the last couple of years—it's without a doubt the very best bang-for-your-buck improvement for use with any PC music playback system. In my review of the Sonore microRendu earlier this year, I found that music via my PC and JPLAY came darn close to matching the excellence of the Sonore stand-alone streamer. I keep regular contact with Marcin of JPLAY, and when he told me about his new JCAT FEMTO Network Card—designed to install in your PC and go head-to-head with other streamers (like the mR)—I was really stoked, and totally onboard.

Mother nature had other plans; a massive lightning strike at my new home killed my then PC setup (along with a boatload of other computer and audio equipment). My chosen replacement—a laptop—wouldn't work with the new JCAT Network Card, and when I expressed my regret to Marcin, he offered me an alternative: the JCAT USB Isolator. Essentially a galvanic isolation device, the USB Isolator is designed to remove any noise present in the USB signal, using what JCAT touts as “the world's first industrial high speed USB Isolation technology from Intona”. It's a very elegant looking and well-made device, and after warming up with a week or so of non-stop play—I can't argue with the results.

Nothing I've hooked this baby up to hasn't benefitted from its presence in the signal path—even the off-the-charts good Sonore UltraRendu that's currently in my system. The effect isn't subtle—inserting the JCAT USB Isolator results in deeper, blacker backgrounds with zero noise at any volume level; if you're hearing noise during playback, it's in the recording. Worth every penny and highly recommended; my full review will post to PF soon.

each to their own. its not for everyone clearly.

I know I have spent a lot of time around lots of very good products and they are all very good.
There has been none so far thats made me want to swop except for a few turntables. Clearaudio comes to mind first.

Cambridge CXN seems the obvious choice to me ?

It's basically a remodelled Oppo....

As perhaps davedotco was pointing, the Sonica a is another fine alternative if you don't require any video circuitry.

The CXN has limited functionality with DSD, something the OP has asked for.

The Sonica is better in this respect and generally speaking a more 2 channel 'audiophile' product than the 'universal' Blue Ray/streamer models, good though they are.

I really don't care how much money you throw away at cables and other unproven stuff. But don't advice other users to waste their money on unproven stuff the way you do. The only thing you keep proving is that expectation bias does exist.
