Hi, I bought my Onkyo TX-SR608 and Jamo H606 HCS 3 last month from Dubai. I will be moving to Australia on next Feb (2012). I have not unpacked the system yet and planning to take it there and start using it. I have a doubt whether it will make some problem if I do not use it for such a long time. Any advice on that please..

If you've not opened it, it will be packed pretty much 100% OK for long term storage.

Usually, there will be silica gel sachets inside the box, to keep the electronics dry and prevent any corrosion; you might just want to consider slipping a sachet under the top flap, if there's space.

The only other thing you might want to consider is taping over any open joints to help keep out dust and bugs, or getting some of that pvc wrapping film (that looks like thick cling film / sarin wrap) and wrapping the boxes in that (individually) to make them water/airtight.

And welcome to the forums! 🙂

Also when you finally get to set them up. Leave them out for an hour or so to climatise. That way if there is any condensation in there or forms, it will dry out.

A very good point. I'd actually say 24Hrs, if it's been in longterm storage, especially if it's a CD/DVD/BD player.
