hiya guys im after a stereo receiver and a pair of speaker this would be my first hi fi and im looking to buy one better than at stores like currys and comet im prepared to spend about £350-400

Harman Kardon HK 3490, £260

Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 and SW150 package, £230

The HK 3490 has a built-in DAC (24bit/192kHz, Optical/Coaxial) and plenty of power (120W/8ohms, 45 Amps).
