So, where's your source of measurements, TrevC?

Links please.

Or do those links only show measurements for the power regions equating to more than 80 or 90 dbs with efficient speakers? Where's the harmonic distortion measurements for power levels equating to 30 to 80 dbs?

Do you know of any reliable, verifiable test equipment that can produce clean sine waves at nano watt power levels?

At that sort of power level, how do you know that the capacitance and inductance of the cables connecting the test equipment to the amplifiers are not corrupting the sine waves and introducing distortion?

How do you know that, at the micro watt power level, the way an amplifier behaves for harmonic distortion into an 8 ohm resistor and the measuring equipment as a load is the same as the way it behaves into efficient speakers?

Where are your Intermodulation Distortion measurements for all frequencies and all output power levels?

Where are your dynamic compression measurements for all power levels?

Where are your single cycle pulse measurements to give an indication of distortion of transients at various frequencies and power levels?

Etc, etc etc.

When it comes to distortion measurements of amplifiers, I put it to you that the more you know, the more you realise that there's a lot that nobody knows.

The weird thing is, you can post something on this forum about speakers (which we agree are the most important part of any system) and it's ignored. People seem to prefer to argue about the stuff that doesn't matter so much. Why is that?
I like questions like this! An Amplifer is a box, a gadget it has Power rating, knobs and stuff. And they seem to carry more brand loyalty to debate. Speakers are personel choice like the music we listen too through them, and its more difficult to argue about.

Do you have a triode amplifier or something? You appear to be arguing for no reason. The limitations of single ended triode amplifiers have been known about for over 70 years. http://sound.westhost.com/valves/myths.html

That isn't to say that they can't sound nice sometimes.
