Hi there - I have two quick questions regarding my hifi setup. I've just put together my first proper system, including some Focal 714v's, a Yamaha AS-500 and a musical fidelity V90 DAC. Very happy with things so far.

I was thinking of getting an Apple TV (ATV) to facilitate wireless streaming of my music from multiple sources - the aim being to take the digital signal from the ATV into the DAC, and then down the usual pathway. My question is somewhat silly but what cable is appropriate to connect the ATV to the DAC? (something like this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Metre-Premium-Toslink-Digital-Optical/dp/B006ZCZI3G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385133040&sr=8-1&keywords=optical+audio+cable)

I believe I need an optical audio cable, but all the ones I've seen seem to have a gold 'thing' sticking out of the centre, but the ATV (http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Apple-TV-Latest-Model/dp/B0040GIZT8 - see the image of the ports on the back) audio port seems to be missing a 'hole' to receive that.

Finally, to complete my system I was (aside from considering a subwoofer) wondering the general consensus on speaker cable was and whether or not it is worth purchasing higher end stuff.

Thanks a lot in advance

That cable will be fine. I use the Amazon Basic toslink cable and it work great. You might not be able to see the hole in the picture, but its there under "optical audio".
