Lesmor,

George Lucas has been milking Star Wars in various forms many times over!

I still need to get these in blu-ray though...

hmm I hope the Originals are realeased as well as i was not a fan of the special edition versions

Return of the Jedi (with the new Anakin standing with obi won etc at the end) was just plain terrible

Originals for me only, the last 3 (first 3) however you see it

Release, rerelease, 3D version special edition, 3D version original edition, original version without all the special effects cleaned up - the possibilities are endless.

Whens he supposed to be getting round to making the final trilogy?

Funnily enough I watched the new Star Trek movie again yesterday. I found myself thinking its what the latest trilogy SHOULD have been like, but fell far short of.

My sentiments entirely.

They've been ready for ages - Film specialists, Lowry finished a full Blu-ray restore/remaster almost two ago. Just waiting on Lucas and Spielberg to green light them. Sigh.

Episodes I through III were so interminably bad as to make you wonder why anybody would want to own them on any format.
The most pristine of transfers will not mask the cringe-inducing and soulless acting of Christensen and Portman, the presence of intensely irritating CGI muppets singing on the "special editions", some of the the most incompentent scripting since Ed Wood penned Plan 9 From Outer Space, or convoluted plot contrivances about "midichlorians" as Lucas clamours to reto-fit his universe.

Sorry, don't want to sound like a killjoy, I just can't stand George Lucas; though I'm sure the box-sets will break all Blu Ray sales records...

Hello slewis
I thought this was a forum not a class room...
Sorry if my spelling up sets you ( not ) but I don't post to please you.
If you do want to go around correcting people in the nice manner you do, why don't you find a forum some where else ..

The problem with the new trilogy was the atrocious dialogue (and some tighter editing would've helped as well). If George coudl've shrunken his ego just a bit, we'd have much better movies. I'd still get the whole box set, though.

Imagine a Jake Llyod commentary...

When my little lad started to get an interest in rockets about 12 months ago. I showed him the pod race (racing rockets) scene from episode I. He thinks it's fab. A few months later I tried to show him the death star attack from episode IV. "No, that's not the right one" he proclaimed and threw a strop. My heart sank. I've created an episode I fan.

I'm much more excited about Back To The Future trilogy coming to Bluray than Star Wars. At 33 I suppose I'm the right age for being a Star Wars "fan-boy", but I just never got it. The plots were flimsy, bad characterisation etc etc. The fact that Lucas has milked every penny out of the franchise puts me off even more. Can you imagine Zemekis living off films he made 25 years ago? No, he went onto make movies like Roger Rabbit, Contact (awesome movie), Forrest Gump, erm Polar Express, Beowulf, Christmas Carol....I forget what my point is now!

We've got a review of the Back to the Future Blu-rays due in an issue out a few weeks before the discs go on sale

33 is a bit young for Star Wars. I was 9 when Star Wars came out and I'm in my 40's. I also hope you are not knocking Polar Exopress (little boy on the magic train-as laddy calls it) it's become one our main Christmas films. the wife can't wait to see it in HD this year.

Whether the films were good or bad is personal preference

What is forgotten or not appreciated by people of a younger generation ( I'm excluded ) is that Star Wars changed the way movies were made forever.

Everything we take for granted now in movies with nothing being impossible with green screen and computers was down to SW and Lucas for which he must be given credit.

Indiana Jones , Jurassic Park all came after Star Wars

Where people criticise and quite rightly is he has definitely milked it , and keeps doing so

To be fair to Lucas on the episodes 1 - 3 which he later released, he said all along he never made them into films because he did not think they would be good enough, but later gave into public demand for them, i personally would prefer to have them than not at all.

Although i put some of the blame on the poor acting from certain actors eg Ewan McGregor.
