I need to be able to put my amp and bd player on top of each other.

I know its usual to put the amp on the bottom as its the heavier item. But as my BDP doesn't have vents on top should I perhaps think about putting that on the bottom.

They're in an open rack without front, sides or back. So would overheating even be an issue ?

Really depends what AMP you have, but to be on the safe side and prolong the life of your BD player I would place it at the bottom if you really need to stack.

Yes, possibly. Most manufacturers recommend an air space of a couple of inches all round (including on top) so stacking is not recommended.

Will almost certainly be ok but if you can put it underneath then do so.

Thanks for the replies. Helped me decide on what to do.

I'll put the amp on top of BDP and keep an eye on it. The amp is a lightweight by comparion to some (Marantz NR1501) so hopingwill be OK.

Must admit fitting it into my rack played a big part on me going for it. Wanted to make things look tidier. Counted up 12 things plugged in and around my TV before which was not a popular look. Now down to 4 (maybe 5 if I keep the Wii).
