speech impediment on avr

just enjoyed the new Star Trek on Blu Ray - AmAzing

But wifey says she loses the speech in all the LFE .sO TURNED the front left and right with centre right up and sub right down but want to know if there are other tweaks I can make

what is the db range all about and what does + or - actually mean

using Denon 2309 with Spendor A6 's as fronts and B and W 685 as rears with 608 sub and cm 1 centre

The speakers are supposed to be 'measured' using a test tone and a decibel meter to make them all equal

My suggestion would be to put some music on that play through all 3 front channels then try to get them sounding the same level by ear. Then select (if you can) to output to ALL channels and do the same for the rears. Then watch a movie and see how speech is. Its quite feasable to turn the center speaker up as most will get lost once the action starts
