speakers for use with laptop set up.

Hi all,

I'm after a set of fairly compact speakers to be used in the back room for use for music with a laptop and also run the tv through. As these are for the back room i don't want to spend too much money on them, but i suppose up to £500 would be ok if the sq was worth it. My initial thoughts were to be the audioengine a5 or the epoz aktimates. Has anyone heard both these speakers and how do they compare up against each other? Or does anyone else have any other suggestions?

Also, if budget allows, would it be worth going through an external dac first?

Oh, and they need to be GF friendly to an extent....🙂

I went for the AVI speakers, as per my signature, which simply connect to the MacBook and do not look unobtrusive or ugly, finished in gloss black.

am i right in saying avi have stopped selling these nowwith amp packs fitted?
