Well, the two dealers I've frequented the most 'Infidelity' and what used to be Audio-T in Epsom were both Naim dealers. If you asked to hear a Rotel or Arcam they would bring out a Naim of some description.

And when these dealers had background music it was generally a Naim.

Plus I've had 2 Nait 5s (5, 5i and 5i Italic) on home dem over the years (Infidelity), and heard XS set-up once just prior to buying the Leema (Audio-T) with Spendor speakers (SA-1 & A5).

All the Naims I've heard has either been connected to MAs, PMCs and MonoPulse.

Oh, and I heard the XS with Dyn Contours at PJ Hi-fi (Guildford).

But over a 10-year period I've heard more Naims than any brand (I haven't owned), yet by contrast, Infidelity are a specialist Rega dealer, and apart from the briefest shop dem of the Elicit-R, one-day home dem of the Rega dac (and the Apollo you found at Audio-T, Camberley), I have little experience of that brand. Did hear the original Planar TTs from Lasky's many moons ago but that's it.

That is a big claim given that owners listen to their Naim amplifiers every day, often for years. Even if we don't count all the Naim owners (and ex-owners), we also have at least four Naim dealers here who must have heard them more than you. (And the WHF? reviewers too.)

Another little example of how hypocritical you are. Remember the my recommendation for Totem Arros? I said can't see them being outgunned by £800 Rega speaker. Power to you, you actually tried some -- No, no, Rega RS3 are much better, the Arros aren't that special.

Over the past few weeks (a month or so), all the speaker threads you've replied to, what have you recommended? Totem Rainmaker. (So much so you even mentioned you might buy some with little one coming along). I know one is a standmounter and t'other a floorstander. That much difference? very much doubt it.

In fact, wouldn't be surprised, with your amp, if the Arros didn't blow your Kudos away.

Could give you other examples of where you've been slightly lopsided with your appraisal, but can't be bothered.

Proac and PMC if you prefer more detail, dynamics and less warmth but not too analytical sounding.

Too my ears, you have to tame Naim amps in general from the slight sounding dryness and harshness that can be apparent from some recordings, as such I use Q Acoustics Concept 40's with my Naim Nait 5si, Arcam irdac, NACA A5 cables, Naim highline power cord, Kimber silver streak interconnects, Apple mini ipad 3 with Audioquest carbon lightnin usb-a cable and acoustic wall panels, simply one behind each speaker.

Hi,

I have Naim si combo and 2x4m NAC A5 cables and I tried many many speakers in my room (4mx4m) such as dynaudio emit, excite x12 and x14, B&W 685 S2, CM1 (not S2), Old proac tablette, q acoustics concept20 and 3050, Quad S1 and S2 - these two at the salesman. I was preparing to give a shot to the Tannoy XT6 or XT6F at the same time when I called the Focal distributor to see what arrangment I can achieve. After a day or two, he agreed to lend me focal aria 906 from the shop (runned-in) and brand new out the box chorus 706. I tried aria first, but when I turned louder music broke away. Compression was obvious. I was uncertain wheather I'd listen choruses or not. What mistake I've could done??? There's nothing close to match that combo - I simply could not belive my ears. I've immediatley called the distributor to see if the delivered arias perhaps have flaw or something. He denied it. Instantly I recalled what Naim manager told in the what hifi interview few years ago - All instrument, at the same time all the time - and that's exactly what I heard. I caught myself in constant crytical listening and then I realized that there's no need for that anymore- I can simply enjoy music like never before without any fatigue. I strongly recommend everyone to try Focal Chorus 706 with Naim Nait 5si/CD 5si.

Thabk you for the advice, but English is not my mothertongue as You have probably noticed by now. And then you can see number of my posts then all will be clear. I read all this posts and many other but nobody suggested what I have found out so this is my contribution to the people with a same problem that I had - Content of the posts posted on the internet never did mention a single suggestion similar of mine. On the other hand, I have spent considerable amout of money and time testing guided by experince postwd on this thread and the others. I believe that in this process discovered unique finding - one that I haven't found on the internet. So I do not want to discuss any more and instead I will listen music from now on. Temporary I not aim at the any upgrade.
