speaker woes 2

hi all,i recently inherited a pair of wharfedale super lintons,the problem is one speaker is twice as loud as the other,i have tried switching them around and with 4 different amps to no avail,any help and advice would be greatly appreciated,thanks

There's not a lot to them. IE they are simple devices - which should be good news for diagnosing the fault.

I think we can assume that it's the quieter speaker that has the fault.

The fault will either be with the wiring, the crossover or one or both drivers (tweeters are the most likely items to develop a fault on speakers like this).

Is there a tonal difference between the speakers? EG the quieter one sounding bass heavy?

How do the mid-bass cone surrounds look, especially the quieter one?

Is there any sign that you're getting voicecoil rub? Google "testing speakers for voice coil rub"
