I've plugged my Pioneer S71-B standmount speakers back in. These also are a pretty bassy speaker, not excessively, but more through consideration for my neighbours downstairs. I've covered up one of the bass ports but they really are very good.
Less forward than the Tannoys, completely different finish from the wood I'd mentioned (a rather sleek matte-black) and having originally retailed for around £700, they are easily on a par with the CM1 and probably one or two others around this price range. Vastly overlooked by the press (I only found one review from 2011 for them - Ed Selley formerly of this parish, writing for Techradar), I've found them to be really very good. I think my earlier reservations have been assuaged in recent days. Details below...
