Speaker spikes

i bought a set of granite plinths for my RS8s a while ago and was just wondering when you place speakers on these should you remove the spikes or leave them in place? At the moment i have been running them into the little speaker spike discs.

Pure granite is extremely hard and will not be damaged by a spike, there is no problem in doing this. For more stability though look on ebay for some spike shoes.
