speaker positioning

hi - im considering installing a surround sound system (onkyo amp and kef speakers seem to be rated very highly)

Can I position the centre speaker above the screen if there not room below - the screen is going above the fire place (which is cosmetic and not in use) but I dont think there will be room below without having the screen ok. Is this ok - any comments if the centre speaker goes above..???

I have had my centre speaker on the floor for some time, and while watching a film, you wouldn't notice. So I doubt if putting the speaker slightly above your set will prove troublesome. Best way to find out is to try.

you say screen Projector screen of TV screen? Onkyo in the info that come with the amps suggest above the TV. i have mine below the TV.

Have tried both ways and think below sounds better but they both work

Thanks guys - its a plasma screen rather than projector...

I have builders doing work in lounge shortly so they will be making the required wholes - so wont be putting screen anywhere near lounge until they well oughter there!! But I dont think going to have room below so think above is only real option - was just after any comments
