Speaker Position and Radiator Heat

I am in the process of turning the room around to improve the hi-fi set up - i even got permission from my wife to try.

My question is i wondered how close to a radiator can a speaker stand be placed without the heat causing damage. Its not a question ive seen raised before but as one speaker is heading in the general direction of the radiator on the wall i thought i would ask.

I've put my LCD and centre speaker above a radiator. Having said that, I invested £100 in a radiator cover so that the heat ventures out rather than up. No problems so far (i.e. through the winter). Probably more danger putting anything electronic next to Onkyo amps ...

I found a good job for my old JVCs...I use it as a heater in winter (and I'm not joking here)! I can't turn the radiator on in my room because my records and CDs are near it, so I stick the A-X400 and A-X5 over by my bed, and Russ Andrews' your uncle!

For me, the radiator behind my TV, and hifi is permanently switched off.
My current place, and my last house had rooms with ideal shape for TV and hifi, WITH A BLOODY RADIATOR slap bang in the middle of the ideal position. I think house makers assume we all stick the TV in a corner, and have little speakers stuck on different levels of bookshelves.

Yep...find the same with my pair of NAD 2200s...Lovely and warm!! No need for rads when these babies are cooking
