Hi,

I am planning to purchase an ARCAM AVR 600 as my receiver.I would appreciate your opinion on a decent speaker package.I have in mind a Pro Ac pakage as reviewed previously in What Hi-Fi(Studio 140 fronts,Studio 110 rears,Studio center & ER-1 subwoofer).

Any other suggestions?

My Blu-Ray source is a Pioneer BDP LX-25.

Hi pg69

In addition to the Proac speakers you could also consider partnering the AVR600 with -

Monitor Audio's Silver RX8 (f), RXLCR (c), RX2/RXFX (r) and RXW12 sub

Dynaudio's Excite X32 (f), X22 (c), X12/X16 (r) and SUB250

ATC's SCM40 (f), C3 (c), SCM11/SCM19 (r) and C1 sub

Thanks

Is this system purely for movies or is it going to be used for music as well? This will have a sway on the sort of speaker packages to be recommended.

Thanks a lot ,friends.

I am planning to use it both for music and movies-more for music than movies.

The Pro-Ac-Arcam combination -is it a good one.Any problems with synergy there in your experience?

Thanks

None at all, they'll work extremely well together. The AVR600 seems to have pretty robust amplification - we've used an AVR600 at an open day driving a full blown KEF Reference package before, and it worked flat out for a good 5 hours!

You could also look at the KEF XQ40 AV pack, or a PMC package based around the GB1i's.

Yep, the Arcam drives many packages particularly well - leaving you to decide on your preferred sonic (as well as visual) style for speakers. Our reference system here - comprised of Mordaunt Short Performance range - is another good partner, if you like a revealing listen...
