I don't think it will make any difference at all, as long as the terminations are properly made.
 
From a purely electrical sense, SPADES are the way to go as its a nicely compressed connection with far better surface area being used

But most people dont have a system good enough (or ears good enough) to appreciate any difference

ie - it probably wouldnt make any difference
 
Or they possibly couldn't tell even if they did; once you get down to "my spades make a difference from my bananas", it's time to start a new hobby...! Try single wiring with decent gauge copper cable if you can. You needn't spend a lot and it can be a cheap and easy comparison to do.
 
I don't think it makes any difference on spades or bananas. However I prefer using banana plugs as spades will easily get loose especially on rigid speaker cables.
