Speaker cable lengths?

Does it make much difference if one length of cable to a front speaker is longer than the other?

I have my Onkyo 606 on the left side of the rack, and it needs a 2 metre cable to the right speakers, but obly a metre one to the left side. Is doing that going to affect the sound?

Will be using the Chord Silverscreen. Is it as good when ordered as a biwire cable, as it is as a single cable?

My understanding is that no it doesn't make a difference. The speed of light is pretty quick so a couple of metres won't make a difference. When I get around to buying a matching power amp, I'll buy a pair of shorter cables to go with my 3m pair for the near side speaker.

It is one of those areas where there should not be a difference, but some find there is a difference. Clearly, if have heard an old fashioned tannoy at a football ground blasting out music the cable lenght does matter. But at 1 to 2 meters this will be less so. Unless you are buying very expensive cable I would say get equal lengths just to give you future flexibility if you move the system/furniture/house.

No one would notice a difference with those lengths of cables. Mine are 2.5m and about 1.75m. They could be 7.5m and 2m and it wouldn't make a difference.

But is the biwire version as good as the single version of the Chord Silverscreen cable?
