Whats the best way to channel a wall, i thought about just using my angle grinder to cut a 5-6mm line down the wall, and do you need to prep the cable or coat it with anything

If you go to your local tool hire shop (Speedy, HSS) you can hire a twin bladed wall chaser. You can control the depth of the cut and the width of the channel you are cutting.

Before cutting,hitting anything,establish what type of wall you are attacking. Brick/plaster or lathe/plaster or plasterboard,then find out if there are already any cables in there. Then come back and request further help.
