Hi everyone!

The time has come for me to finally ditch my aging speaker cable and replace it with some much better stuff. I've done a lot of reading around on the forums and have narrowed it down to either the Van Damme UP LCOFC or Van Damme UPOFC Studio Grade Blue Series in either 4 or 6 mm sizes. From what I've read here and elsewhere I'm pretty much sold on the LCOFC stuff being better, but just wanted to confirm that this was the better buy over the studio grade blue series. Was also wondering what your opinion was on the size front, obviously the 4 mm will be cheaper, but I'm willing to pay that much more for the 6mm if there's a chance it'll make a difference. Equipment as in my sig by the way,

Thanks in advance! [:)]

The UP LC-OFC is a better grade than the blue (less grain than standard OFC which the blue is)

4mm is fine, but if you want max bass then 6mm 'may' be better (Ive never compared so cant say for sure)

Hi I have the 6mm Blue series cable and also the 6mm LC-OFC cable by Van Damme. They are good for the money. Not noticed a large difference betwen them although never done direct comparison (as they take a while to re-wire back into the speaker/amp terminals. Previously, been using Chord Rumour 2 which is the stuff above the Silverscreen in the Chord range. Again not noticed much difference but have not done direct A/B comparison so can't safely say for sure. Initially I thought the bass was much better but was a while ago. The Blue series has been terminated and the LC-OFC has not. The problem with the 10 guage wire is that it is difficult to fit into the terminals of both amp or speakers, but I have managed it okay. If I were to get cable again I would probably go for the 4mm LC-OFC by VD. If you want the extra protective coating on the wires go for the Blue or Black series. Also most banana plugs except 4mm rather than 6mm. I used VD's own 6mm plugs to terminate the Blue series and this worked fine. Also used some De-oxit to stop corrosion but not sure if I will notice any difference. Hope this helps.

Hi,

I purchased the 4mm UP LC-OFC a few months ago now, and would say the 4mm would be more than sufficient for your system.

I cannot tell you if it is any better than my previous cable because I changed my speakers and amp at the same time. However I have no complaints about cable and it seems to combine well with my system.

Thanks for all the opinions guys, some very useful points raised. Think I'll probably get with the 4mm UP LCOFC stuff as its ridiculously cheap at the moment and seems to be the sweet spot between price and performance from what everyone's saying. Now to order and install

Hi all,

Was hoping for some advice on Van Damme cables.

I can get hold of some Blue series 2 x 2.5mm quite cheap.

Would you recommend this as I need quite a lot and don't have the budget to spend hundreds.

Or should I wait and get some 4mm. Is there a big sound difference between the two?

Thanks in advance!
