Hi. Can anyone recommend some speakers (and stands for £200) to go with my TEAC's DR-H3000DAB? I currently use some Bose ACOUSTIMASS 3 speakers, but I'm not sure I want the big bass unit and the small speakers. Too many wires! I'm thinking of some small stand speakers instead, but I'm not sure if they'll be better than the Bose. Many thanks.

They are £179, probably can be found cheaper. You'll have to stretch your budget a little further for some decent stands like the soundstyle Z2.

Thanks for this. You don't like Bose much then? Doesn't sound like many people like the Bose stuff. Looking at these speakers and stands, should I look at floor standing ones as well? Maybe the BR5's? My room is about 12ft by 11ft.

The BR5s are a considerable amount more than the BR2s. If you can afford the BR5s, I would also consider the RS1s and the B&W 685s. I am not sure that you would need Floorstanders in a room that size. The bass on the standmounts are sufficient and could be placed to give the amount of bass you want. Just in case the question was prompted by you thinking "What's the point in getting smaller speakers if I am just going to put them on a stand", a good £200 standmount speaker will generally be better than a floorstander costing the same amount of money (including the cost of stands)

Cheers for this, I agree. The floor standers are probably overkill. It was really thinking ahead - I've got a 3 year daughter that likes running about, and crashing into things!. You see where I'm going with this!?

You could get some solid speaker stands that you can fill with shot / atabites / sand. They will be as sturdy as any floorstander. You could base your decision on a particularly angular stand, that way if the rugrat runs into one, she'll only do it the once because it will probably really hurt (lol... only joking ;-) ).
