soundbar????

Hi all, i am new to this forum and have to admit i am a technophobe. i just bought a panasonic viera tx 42 g30b and am considering a soundbar. looked at a few review sites and for £200ish my choices are limited somewhat. looked at the yamaha yas-101 and charts well, any other suggestions at this price range. don't know if this is an option but if i connected a hifi to the tv would it have a similar effect or is there a docking system for an mp3 which doubles as a cinema sound system? Amateur night i know but hey ho.
