Hi, first post. Recently acquired a Sony 40ex503, good picture, dire sound. It replaced a broken 40W4000 which had great sound for an lcd. I need to improve the sound but having 2 small kids I dont really want wires all over the place. Considering the Yamaha YHT-S400 but the Boston Acoustics XS 5.1 system looks pretty good as well. Issue I have is the room layout, hopefully this illustrates it a bit better:

X marks where I sit ;)

Not the easiest place to choose speaker locations for a 5.1 which is another reason to go for the yamaha soundbar.

Any suggestions? Thanks

If it was me in your place , then i would move the TV right in the front of the window and then place L&R front speakers on either side of the Tv with the center below the Tv and than your surround speakers just above the sofa where u will be siting , the subwoofer u can place where ever u feel like in the room , or where it sounds best.

Goodluck.
