Hi. Just ordered Samsung UE55ES8000. Years since last TV purchase. Funds only allow soundbar and sub unit. What would others recommend. Ideally <£800. Thanks! Mike

Is funds the only reason for not going surround sound?

This should thrash a soundbar shouldn't it?

Edit: apologies, I can't count! The point remains though, £800 can build a really nice surround sound system these days. Replace the Q acoustics for the Boston kit and you have a £600 surround sound system.

Don't buy the YSP unless cable runs and space dictate.

I have one due to the above issues and whilst very good and clever it doesn't really do surround.

Rear effects are always at your side and not behind.

They do pan forwards but not from behind you and you sit slightly outside the rear of the surround 'bubble' so can hear the intended effect but don't ever get it.

It's a good bit of kit but good is all compared to separates which I used to own and were that next step up in surround experience.

Your budget will buy some great kit.

I've had my ysp2200 for six months now and still can't get a decent surround sound from it no matter how I set it up. If I were you I would listen to one very carefully before you splash out £700+ on a set up that could easily be bettered with seperates.
