I like decent audio when watching films but I don't really want kit encroaching on my living space so I feel a soundbar will be a good option. What I'm wondering though is do they require an AV amp or do they plug direct in the the telly or Bluray player (PS3)? If they do would an AV amp enhance it or make no difference? I'd probably looking to spend £500-600 on the bar. Cheers chaps. Andrew.

I think they just plug into your telly, should also have their own power supply.

Have you found any yet?have you seen the bose set-ups?

Soundbar's DON'T require an a/v amp & yes they plug straight into the telly either optical or phono or both, decide what your telly has & do a bit of googling on finding your best soundbar.

Hi Andrew,

The Sonos Playbar sounds great and is right on budget.

It plugs into your blu-ray player or TV via optical out. And if you want to add more weight to the proceedings in the future you can add a Sonos sub or Play 3 or 5's to handle rear effects.

Cheers,

Thanks guys, I certainly like the modular features of the Sonos so I could enhance it later. I also want to get a media streamer in the near future for which the Sonos could be a good fit.
