Sound Delay Through Digital Optical

Hi All,

I recently bought a Digital Optical lead for my system, its set up all ok -
Getting Dolby Digital etc, but when i turn over the channel, i get a delay of
around 2 seconds before the sound kicks in!

Is this normal or could it be the lead?

Normal: can take a moment or two for the digital-to-analogue conversion to 'lock' onto the digital signal. Just about every system mutes the audio output until this has happened and stabilised, to avoid any nasty digital hash being put through the speakers.
