HI.

ANY UPDATES ON THE Z SERIES SETS? I AM EAGERLY WAITING FOR A ( PREFERABLY ONLINE)REVIEW

OF THE 46" LCD SET AS THATS THE ONE I WILL BE PURCHASING AND I WONT BE DOING SO WITHOUT YOUR

RECOMMENDATION.

ITS SUPPOSED TO BE A HIGH END SET AND I HOPE IT LIVES UP TO SONY'S PROMISE THAT IT PROVIDES THE BEST IMAGE QUALITY, BRAVIA HAS EVER PRODUCED...

ANY IDEA WHEN A REVIEW WILL BE AVAILABLE?

. May take us a while to get to the Z5500 - I'll check with the crew on Monday to see when/if we've got one coming in.

We've only just received the Sony KDL-40Z5500, which we will review as part of a 40-42in Supertest (alongside 7 other sets, including the 40in Samsung 8000) in our issue out in mid-August.

Any chance of a sneaky peek at the KDL-40Z5500 review before the Next issue hits the shops !!!

or can you answer me one question... is the Sony KDL-40Z5500 better than the Samsung UE40B800 ??

Thanks

Not going to share the result, but I can tell you that in some ways the Sony is better than the Samsung, but in other ways the Samsung is superior to the Sony. Only by considering the strengths/weaknesses of both would you be able to work out what's the best for you.

It's also worth stressing that there are six more new-season sets in that test, too... Not long to wait now: issues will be in shops in two weeks' time and with subscribers in @10 days,

Thanks Clare, I look forward to the supertest......aghhhh a whole 10 days to wait !!!!!!

I love Sony kit and have never had any issues with anything I have bought so far, but the Samsung 8000 is just so 'Damm' thin !

Anyone bought a Sony 40Z5500 yet ??? Care to pass on any experience.

Are any of the Panasoinc Sets as in V10/G15 or is it all the LCD screens? And with the Philips screens in we can expect to see the outline of the Awards 2009 coming closer.....lovely.

Could you tell us whats sets are in the test for the supertest.I expect Sony to win with Samsung being a close second, yet when i so the sony 40z5500 and the Samsung 8000 i felt 8000 was better. but then the Panasonic V10 was even better again than both of them in my eyes anyway!

So we just have to wait and see.... lol

.

Now i am a complete newbie to flat panel TV's but the time was right for me too buy so i opted for this set. As i couldnt find a what hi-fi review it was a big gamble, but one i am glad to say i am happy with. One big factor for me was the 3 year warranty TBH.

Straight out of the box the HD image is amazing. After tweeking this S-Force surround is OK, but will be backed up later this year by Sonys 2.1 Surround and Blueray system.

After messing with the settings the SD image is also good, but i have noted that if the input signal quality varies the picture changes/degrades drastically.

The menu system on the TV is very easy to use and set up, i especially like the fact that the user manual is fully loaded into the TV.

Pictures from my camera look amazing, and i like the slide show option. i was a bit let down that there is no wifi as my TV is no where near my router.

Big question time now!

Is there any motion blur? No none that i have picked up on.

Colours and contrast? Blacks are very black with no smudging (sorry not sure of the correct term)

Clouding???

.......

.....

..

.

YES......ever so slightly in the corners, but upping the back light level makes it all but invisible.

Would i recomend the TV? Yes definatley. Not much detail, as i stuggle with the technical terms, but i hope its some help. I am looking forward to the official review, lets hope its not bettered by another set.
