Hi all,

I am in the market for a new hd tv, I was one of the early birds into flat screens & it badly needs replacing with something a little more uptodate now. I have been looking at the Sony range, specifically the EX wireless range the panels are v v thin with the seperate media box. Has anyone any experience with these sets or comments to make before I make a large mistake !

Many thanks for any help given.

Hi,

I was initially thinking of another model alltogether, the KDL W5S I think it was. That choice was based on the review it got on here & my own view of it. But while in the shop I was shown the wireless model & just thought it may have its benefits in terms of flexibility of positioning etc.

But obviously the main consideration has to be the actual picture performance of it.

Many thanks

The WE5 is the better television overall, but if you want the wireless funcionality the EX1 is certainly very capable.

One point to note is that the EX1 only streams wirelessly in 1080i, although there is one direct HDMI input on the screen itself to allow full use of a 1080p source.

Which would defeat the object I fear

Ummm interesting to hear you say that,

I dont really need the wireless capability but was attracted by the neatness of the set itself. My main viewing is sport, specifically soccer, formula 1 & golf, all via sky HD. My concern with the wireless set was its ability to keep up with hi speed golf .... well maybe motorsport as well !

Thanks for your reply, may have another think about it.

If it is performance you are after there are other sets in the Sony line up that offer more than the EX. The EX is very good ( a W5500 internally I think ) but a Z45 or Z55 will give you more.
