Sony S5000ES Picture Quality.

I have just replaced my Denon 2500 Blu-Ray Transport with a Sony 5000ES but the picture quality on the Sony is very poor.

The Denon was amazing and I thought the Sony would be even more amazing!!

I just disconnected the Denon and connected the Sony(audio settings are as stated in the handbook)but the picture is crap.

I'm using quality Chord leads and everthing else is high end.

HD tv is sperior picture quality than a blu-ray played on the Sony,surely blu-ray should be superior th HD tv?

Any ideas?

The Denon has some advantages of not having internal analogue circuitry, but that shouldn't mean the 5000es should look rubbish in comparison. You said that you disconnected the Denon and just plugged the Sony in - it could be that you need to mess about with the settings - is output set to 1080p?
