Sony RHTG900 reviews?

Hi

I was wondering whether anyone has one of these or knows whether its any good. I need to get a new stan to go with my soon to be purchased tv and there are a number of deals on this unit which would seem to combine stand and speakers quite nicely.

But I can't find any information to find out whether it's any good.

If it's not any othe suggestions?

i'm thinking of buying one myself as a space saving device. I have only heard good reviews about this product. It seems to be another quality product from sony.

hi i posted a similar question and did not get much info. what i did get was that people who have purchased one where happy with it. i was advised to connect the blue ray player via digital optical but then you lose the hd audio. so i would like to keep that if i can. but that means using the players on board decoding which can do the job but u have to connect the blueray player directly to the sony stand and use the 1080p pass through. And this may be fine but i am yet to get an answer on whether going to the sony stand first affects the picture quality. its a shame the WHiFi team have not tested many of these all in one solutions. I mean its sony, its a solution to a problem for some people and there is not many around so u think they would happily put this equipment through its paces.

some more news just seen u can buy this in argos (not exactly un heard of then). So WHF team how can u explain the lack of news on this. Im sure alot of people out there would appreciate some kind of info?

We have repeatedly requested these stands for review, but as yet we have only received one sample of one of the earlier models, which had the same HDMI/optical problem with Sky HD seen on the STR-DG820 and STR-DA2400ES.

But whereas the problem was solved on the receivers, Sony seemed not too concerned with this situation on the stands, which is where we chose to differ. Maybe that's why review samples haven't been forthcoming...

RHT-G900 is a discontinued product and has been replaced by the new RHT-G950 which is due out in May/June.

As reported in News here - let's hope Sony's sorted the optical audio override of the HDMI this time round.
