Sony NW-A105 sound quality

Hello all, my first post here, hope it is appropriate. I currently own an IPhone XS max and play stored music in alac or mp3, (depending on how I came by the music).
Will the sound quality be improved by getting a Sony NW-A105/Plenue or other such hi-res music player. I am unlikely to use anything above ‘CD quality’ as that is what I have.

Any thoughts gratefully received

Headphones, Bose qc25s or various sets of wired and bt ones, To be honest music sounds pretty good on the iPhone, I just wondered if a separate player at around the £200-300 mark would make a discernible difference

With that tier of portable, noise cancelling headphones you're unlikely to notice much of a difference. With better, wired headphones....possibly. I'd probably base the decision on the particular headphone and its amplification needs. Those little DAPs generally have an integrated headphone amp.
