After reading countless reviews on which set to buy, i spent my hard earned on this one after a great review from WHF. I am really disapointed with the picture on SD, i have sky HD, and yes the HD picture is amazing and playing Blue Ray even better, but watching SD channels through sky is horrible, and watching a match on sky sports was shocking!

I used to have a Sony KDL32D3000, and the picture on that was faultless! What am i doing wrong??? Has anyone else had the same problem??? or does anyone know what are the best settings to use to get the best picture???

Any comments would be welcome

Thanks Mesha

How far away from the set are you sitting? From 32" to 46" seems a pretty big leap. SD will always look better on a 32" set with the same viewing distance.

Take some time to tweak the settings one by one - ONLY changing one aspect of the picture at a time so that you can see the effect that your changes make. Patience will pay off in the long run. Your new set is capable of excellent SD performance (provided you aren't sat too close for the size of the TV) and I'm sure you will find the settings that suit you.

I replaced the set as i moved and my room is bigger than the last, i sit around 4/5 meters away from the screen, i used the THX test found on a DVD, and seems to be a little better, Not sure what the viewing distance should be for a set this big???

Many thanks for your comments though, i will keep playing with the settings...

Were you watching the Man Utd match, by any chance? ÿThat was horrible on every kind of TV due to ITV only providing a decent picture for their HD viewers. ÿBBC SD programmes should be perfectly watchable, however, although they don't look great. ÿI must admit my first port of call on the Sky remote is now 'HD Channels' - isn't it funny how technology influences our choices? ÿThere are plenty of people enjoying terrible films because they look and sound amazing in Blu-Ray!

It's not what you want to hear, but if you've run the THX test, your PQ is probablyÿabout as good as it's going to get. ÿI'd recommend a bit more time sampling the delights of Discovery HD, Sky Arts HD, History HD..........................
