After reading your review on this i have pretty much set myself up to buy this set (when it FINALLY gets released) and have been looking into it further, but have ready a few other reviews stating that it is not as good as stated and that there are a few other sets out there that are better, namely the panny vt20, can someone please clear this up for me, i got the impression that the Sony was THE tv to buy at the moment (or when it gets released)

My main desires are; 3D, and the best posible picture money can buy! my only other stipulation is that it is 46", i know this drmaticly reduces the possibilities, at a very big push i might be able to persuade the wife to a 50" but i dont really think my room could handle such a large tv, can anyone clear this up for me please?

also any info on the release of the hx903 or why its being delayed to the end of Sept would be appreachiated.

Regards Jst23.

its considered the best 3d lcd tv , and the vt20 is considered the best 3d plasma tv ..

there is going to be a 46vt20 released soon , in a few weeks i think , around the same time as the sony ..

considering one can find a 50vt20 for around £1900 with a bit of googling , i would guess that the 46in will be around £1600ish ..

thats about £1000 less than the sony once you factor in the 3d transmitter and glasses ..

thats a big difference , one that so far , only whfi think is worth the extra , albeit at a smaller premium as they compared the 50in pana and not the 46in ..

one other thing to factor in though , is that many vt20 owners report issues with their tvs , but they have been on sale since may ..

its too early yet to gauge feedback from hx903 owners , it will be a few months before we hear what owners think of them..

id definately demo both anyway , all things being equal , the sony will really need to be a step above the pana , to justify the premium , maybe it is ? only you can decide really ..

This is the exact problem I have. Had my KDL46HX903 ordered and paid for (£2299.00 inc 5 year warranty) for two months with no sign of even a delivery date as yet.

Got excited about the 46VT20 news as its likely to be out at the same time as the Sony. This would save me up to £900 which I could use towards some B&W MT-30's for my amp. Also could up grade to Panasonics BD300 3D player with twin HDMI. No need for a new AMP!!

this is what i have been thinking, i know the sony would be slightly better, bout would i honestly be able to tell the differance between the sony to the panna? because as a few of you have said, about £1000 is quiet a differance, a differance that could be spent on something else, like a new 3D AiO HCIAB, but as i said at the start i want 3D, but have heard that the sony and for that matter all 3D LCD/LED have crosstalk, where as the panny by alll accounts doesnt, please bear in mind im a sony man, i have a sony BDVE300, KDL-46W4500, 60gb PS3, 250gb PS3.

BDP-360 and an older 20"hd ready bravia for the bedroom, but with the release date being pushed back and back, i am prepared to wait till the end of sept but really dont know if i could wait any longer, and the prospect of saving £1000 is VERY appealing but i simply want the best that money can buy, i am prepared to pay £2500+ for the sony if need be but if i can get the same performance or perhaps better for less then that is no skin off my back.

i would go with the kdl 46hx903 in my opinion. i had the VT20 and found it to be well built quite nice looking (although dated looks) and a reasonable price! but after getting it home found it to be pretty much a dissapointing experience with lots of problems with motion and some colour banding on people faces.. and then it died after two and a half weeks!! went back for a full refund and now i have a kdl 52hx903 on order. i know its exspensive but a am pretty confident it will be awsome like many happy people are reporting in other forums, from which there are lots of pansonic vt20 haters for the exact same reasons mentioned. roll on the end of september - FINGERS CROSSED!!!

The chain I ordered my 903 from as had one in, which was supposed to be mine but went west to someone else. I visit or phone the store once a week with no news. Looking on some other forums, some Sony shops have been quoting 2-3 weeks delivery on new orders and I've mentioned this to my retailer as I paid for mine in full months ago. But they told me that after speaking to the Sony rep, the last shipment disrupted across Sony stores & Independent retailers only consisted of 15 TV's. 15!! I'm not sure if thats 15 across the North, North East or the whole country. I'm not sure.

i cant figure out why these very expensive sonys are not readily available? you would think they are very profitable for sony? its very strange that there arent more of them around, given the apparent strong demand..

Hi razorgrass,

did they say that they actually had stock of the 903 or stock was imminent? Did they give you a delivery date?

I hope so as it sounds to good to be true. If they have, I might switch my order over to them.
