Why is it that every retailer has a shop full of Sony EX403s but I can't find an EX503 (as in the five star tv reviewed in last month's mag)? Also, does it follow that, as the 40 inch 503 has received 5 stars, the 32 inch version (and the 26 incher, for that matter) would also be a five star performer?

Hi

There seems plenty available online, Amazon have them in stock for £749 so perhaps the problem is that you are shopping on the high street?? Do bear in mind that a 5 star set is normally very popular so stocks may be erratic due to demand, i am going to replace my W5500 for an EX503 in a couple of weeks so i've been keeping an eye on the price and availability for a while now so i know they are out there....somewhere.

As for the merits of a 32inch or 26inch receiving the same 5star reveiw.....it often dosen't work that way as screens at different sizes can have very different components and/or screens even though they are in the same range but there are exceptions, one for the WHF team to determine.

We've got both 32" and 40" versions on display and would expect most Sony Centres will have them - it is a bread and butter model!!

Many multi-brand retailers are quite likely to be going for the price point of the EX403 as an entry point for Freeview HD and that is probably why you are seeing it everywhere.

OK. Thanks chaps. I tend to avoid my local Sony Centre, I have to admit. The few times I've visited the shop, I've found the staff to be rather arrogant and patronising, I'm afraid, which is a pity, as the shop is literally a three minute walk from my front door.
