Ciurrys are doing it with a five-year guarantee, see here http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertainment/televisions/televisions/sony-bravia-75x9405cbu-smart-3d-ultra-hd-4k-75-led-tv-10132105-pdt.html?srcid=198&cmpid=rmktg_gg0000_DTP_Dynamic_Retargeting_Non_MDA_Product_Viewers&mctag=gg_goog_7904&s_kwcid=AL!3391!3!71352100644!!www.whathifi.com!d!!&gclid=CMf395rWwsoCFUKfGwodLmMD4w&ef_id=VdKH-AAABPWiyso-:20160124143713:s This is a real reduction in price by three grand, because it was on sale at £7,500 on first release and for quite some time afterwards, at Currys but also at Richer Sounds, John Lewis etc. It's easy to get lost in all the hype about HDR and the UHD Premium Alliance following the CES show in Las Vegas this month, but just in case anyone has forgotten that this Sony was one of the three best televisions of 2015, here are three reviews http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/kd75x9405c-201508314160.htm and http://www.whathifi.com/sony/kd-75x9405c/review.

The Sony KD75S9005B is a different set from the one that I started this thread about, and according to reviews it is definitely not as good as the almost-reference 75X9405C. No, I'll not be getting the 75X9405C, though since in the last week I've been offered over £3,300 on an endowment mortgage shortfall refund, in fact I could now afford the 75X9405C! But no, I don't like the big side speakers, so I'll stick with my original plan. I now have enough money, apart from the mortgage refund, to buy the Sony 75W855C television, the same as Clare Newsome's. Expected date of delivery is Saturday 13th February. It's only Full HD, not 4K, but I just wanted a telly bigger than my Panasonic 65VT65! Richer Sounds are doing it (today the price has dropped by £200 compared to Saturday's price) for £1,999, here http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/sony/bravia-kdl75w855c/sony-kdl75w855cbu. Maybe towards the end of 2017 I'll have enough money to buy a 75-inch 4K HDR television.

I'm also keen to see how the Sony 75W855C compares not only to my Panasonic 65VT65, but also to my other three plasma televisions. The Panasonic has not yet been calibrated, so I'll be getting it calibrated at the same time as the forthcoming Sony, in late March or early April depending on Mr Steve Withers's availability.
