It appears to me (from looking at the manual online) that you can set the HDMI video resolution on the BDP-S360 to 480i/576i as I do with my 350. I change it to 1080p for blu-rays, however.
Yep, I can do that. I was hoping there'd be a automatic option I could use. Clearly, this is not an issue if you have a full HD TV.

By the way, do you change Pure Cinema from "Off" to "Advance" for blu-rays? It's the recommended setting and produces a smoother picture.

I meant "Pure Cinema" on the TV (4280XD). It only takes a few seconds to change it when you want to watch a blu-ray.
PJPro:Apologies. For some reason I am unable to select the Advanced option, it's greyed out.
Its for 60Hz playback only. When playing 1080P 24fps blurays your tv will automatically jump into 24Hz mode (Which is the best you can do for blurays)

'Advanced' only becomes available once the blu-ray starts playing - you can usually change it during the menu phase.
Sorry it didn't work and my info was pants. I thought I'd better throw my two pence in just in case. Well at least you tried. It's funny how my machine plays the two types of discs at different resolutions. Maybe it's a HDMI thing. Just out of interest did you try connecting the the player directly to the tv rather than through the amp?
My setup is a 46'' Sony W4500 and Pioneer LX71 for AV.I use PS3 for blu-ray/DVD playback.
But now i want to buy sony s760.....For my setup is OK or do i need to go for Sony 5000es ?
Will s760 give me a noticable difference at PQ and SQ from PS3?or i have to buy 5000?
Also does anyone know what chip for picture processing S760 use?
I know that 5000 uses Qdeo chip,but s760?

I have a Sony 40x2000 linked up to the Onkyo 606. I also have a PS3 linked in. I just purchased the Sony BDP-s760 and that is now feeding the onkyo also.
Would you have any advice for the optimum settings I should set for the S760 or the Onkyo to Maximise, Sound and picture for Dvd and Blu ray?
