Hi,
Ive recently purchased a sony bdp-s380 bluray player and am having problems connecting it to my ipod touch.
Ive downloaded both sony 'bd remote' and 'network audio remote' for the touch.
I can get any of them to register for it to control my blu-ray player.
Now, the manual and box claim that the bluray player can be connected to the ipod touch or similar.
Ive spent hours tinkering around with network settings on the router.
Am I having this problem because the bluray player has wired LAN connection, and the ipod touch has wireless connection?
Both and in fact all wired and wireless devices can connect to the net and are registered on configuration of router.
But they cannot connect to each other.
I also had this problem with the squeezebox duet, squeezebox server and ipod touch version (penguin).
It cannot be a connection issue, but what settings need adujusting.
I have a BT homehub 2.0 modem router, and Ive been through most of the settings with no avail.
Is it MAC address filtering or something else?
How about changing wireless connection to WEP?
I think ive tried everything!
Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do I need to change my router?
Surely not!

P.S. Instead of purchasing a wireless dongle, it is possible to use wireless LAN point (ie. takes a wireless signal and passes wired to the bluray player)
Any experience or advice on this?
Many thanks.

I meant I CANT get the touch to connect to the bluray player(as above).

P.s Is this the same problem that prevents me from mapping a network drive for sharing on permitted pc's on the network?

Is it only the s380 that has this problem because ive noticed that the product description for the 'bd remote' app (version 2.1.1) says it is compatible with this model number, along with 2010 blu ray players too.

The 'network audio remote' app (version 1.1.00) says its compatible with blu-ray players bdp-s480/s580/s780/bx58.
Not a mention of s380 here though.

I cant get either of these apps to work.

P.S does either of the apps above allow you to search and choose youtube vidoes for playback via the connected network blu-ray player.
If so, which app, and which models.
Please explain!

Hi, I had exactly the same problem with a new Belkin router a couple of months ago. In the end I took it back, plugged in my old router and everything worked fine. So could be a router issue. Sorry I can't be of any more help.

Hmm, delighted with the player but I'm having the same problem as the OP. iPhone 4 which happily uses my network. S380 wired to my netgear router, also happily on the network. Trying to use 'Media Remote' app but when I press 'add registration' in the settings on the app, while the player is trying to register a remote, it immediately fails. Anyone got any advice? Is there a better app to use?
