May I ask what sound format you were listening to and what the difference is between selecting auto and wide?

dont know how to say but i feel diferrent the sound is good to me.i ll think you should try set to wide range

Im going to get to the bottom of it

I even rang a sony engineer (one of the few sony guys who actually knew what he was talking about), and he said to set to auto. Also MAY need to manually choose the audio on the source

Sound is set to a standard. Deviate from that standard and youll get distortion and/or clipping

Ive tried DOLBY DIGITAL, DTS, DOLBY HD and PCM 24 bit

Theres no difference on my system on any setting be it AUTO, STANDARD or WIDE bitstreaming through my HDMI

So if anyone is getting any difference I can only assume its analogue? Maybe some people have theirs set to PCM when it should be bitstreaming?

Id have thought most people on here would by now have HD decoders
