What TV have you got? And sound system (if any)?

The 360 was better than the 350 and the 370 is an even bigger improvement, but how noticeable you find those upgrades will depend on rest of your system.

TV is the Sony Bravia KDL-40W4000 (I purchased them around the same time, in the first flush of enthusiasm, following the demise of our CRT set!)

Sound system is strictly stereo only (see sig).

Ok. I think you'd see/hear a slight improvement, but may feel £100 is better spent on discs/another upgrade. My Dad has the Sony 40W4500 and the S350 and they still look great

Thanks for saving myself from myself, Clare! You have confirmed precisely what the forebrain was trying to communicate to the bargain-grabbing hindbrain.

At the moment I have a PS3 for blu-disks and Sony 37W5500 with non-HD audio format home cinema system.

Is the S370 a significant upgrade from the PS3 for my system?

The other thing to consider here is if you would like to access iplayer etc via your tv (assuming router is nearby?)......

I recently upgraded from the S350 to S370 purely because of reviews and the fact I could get iplayer through it and a router.....

After connecting the S370 up, I noticed a good improvement with the picture quality over the S350, which was a bonus. (HD ready tv only) Sound, too, was slightly improved....

Hi ESP2009,

Sorry to tempt you.

Its not only good picture but it sounds pretty good through the stereo analogue inputs too, sounding quite good on cd - Detailed crisp with good tempo, not bad for the price at all.

Cheers

Steve.

Too late! The danger has passed and I am back under control.

The S350 only cost me £155 (inc free Bluray disc), so I am happy to wait a while longer for my next bargain.

VAT will increase the price of a £100 player by £2.50...........is that going to be a major consideration in your purchase, taking into account that next year's players will be sub-100 range (around £80-90 I suspect)?
