After buying the Sony BDP-S350 i realised that it does not have multi channel analogue output. Does this mean that i cannot use it in a surround sound system?

You can still use it in a surround sound system, but ensure that your blu-ray player is set to bitstream so your receiver does the job of decoding the hd sound. The sound will be carried via your 1.3 HDMI cable.

If however, you have an older amp that cannot do this, then you've hit a snag, as you will then need multichannel analogue putputs to achieve this.

You can still enjoy multichannel sound even if your amp doesn't support HDMI by simply connecting the digital audio out to the corresponding input of your surround amp.

Granted it won't be the full HD audio experience, but you will get Dobly Digital 5.1 and DTS Surround which is pretty good.
