Hi Clare,

Any idea when the review will be for public viewing this afternoon? Have you tested the product for normal DVD playback?

Is it any good for upscaling DVD playback??

Thanks.....

Thanks Clare,

Will it be exciting news for DVD and CD playback then, or are you going to make me sweat a little.... and make us wait to see the results.......?

WOW,

That sounds too good to be true!!

One thing that isn't mentioned, though, is how it compares with the two panasonic blu-ray machines on the market at the moment (BD30,50). It is better in terms of blu ray and DVD playback than either/both of them?

Obviously, if its a close run thing, Sony have a winner on their hands at that price.

I assume a panny TH42 PX80 (hd ready), onkyo 606 and Q acoustic 1010i 5.1 will work wonders with this sony machine???(Just will mean having yet another handset to play with, rather than buying another panasonic product which works from the tv handset!!)

Clare, Andrew................

More importantly, is it better than a PS3 for BD playback?

Any WHF folks know if this has a HD audio bitrate counter like the PS3 and earlier Sony players? I want the full transpotter experience 🙂

Is the Sony BDP-S350 better than the PS3? It's at least the equal of the Sony Playstation 3 at BD playback, and is better with DVDs - though obviously the PS3 retains its superiority in terms of functionality.

Very close-run with the Panasonic DMP-BD30 - lots more comparative testing to be done (cue budget Blu-ray Group Test in next issue).

Hi Clare,

Very close with Panasonic BD30, yet £110 cheaper then. Sounds promising!!

I assume Panasonic BD50 is a better machine then? Will the Sony BDP-S550 be a decent rival for that machine?

Look forward to your next issue with interest, with a budget blu-ray player group test on offer!!

Thanks for your help.....
