Hello there, I currently own the panasonic Dmp BD35 and was wondering if it would be worth upgrading to the sony BD S360. I've read that the sony manages motion really well and I've noticed judder on certain camera movements with the panny. I don't think its a problem with the TV because HD content from other sources is fine. How does the overall performance compare from the two machines? I'm confused because the sony won the 2009 best buy award up to 300 quid and the relatively

out dated panny still costs a bit more than the sony even now. Many thanks.

The Panny 35 was better than the Sony S350........

The Sony S360 is marginally better than the Sony S350........

Upgrade between the S360 and Panny 35 worth it? Not really, unless to intend to use the Panny somewhere else in the house, and needed a new one anyway.

Better upgrade from panny 35............Sony S760, or Pioneer LX52...... in my opinion

I agree with Pistol Pete1 on this one.

If you do upgrade, you need to get a far better blu ray player to see / hear the difference, the Sony S760 or even the Pioneer BDP-LX52 are two great machines, i opted for the Pioneer LX52 and i was upgrading from a Panasonic DMP-BD55, i straight away noticed the difference in picture quality and sound too, i had to turn down my sound bar volume from my usual setting.

The LX52 does have the edge over the S760 as per What Hi-Fi but the Sony is allot cheaper, so if you do decide to buy a new blu ray player, make sure it is a bigger step up from the one you own.

M,

How are you getting on with the soundbar (ysp 1100). Thinking of getting the new 4100. I'm not interested in a full 5.1 set up. Is it a good alternative.

Keep the BD35. It is an excellent machine and is still priced higher than the S360 (which is going for peanuts, for some reason) in most retail outlets.

Unless you're upgrading by a couple of notches, you are unlikely to notice or hear any difference. I'm really happy with my BD35 and am on the lookout for a good deal on the Denon DVD-2500BT before I even contemplate the 'upgrade'.

Hi Dan.m

I love my Yamaha YSP1100, i have had a 6.1 setup before i went to a sound bar but i have not regretted it for one moment. The one thing i have to say is that you will not get a full sense of surround sound like a 5.1 if you go for a sound bar but it does do a great job for what it is and sounds awesome in fairness.

In regards to the new 4100, i dont think i will be changing mine as im not too fussed with the HDMI inputs it has but the one thing that did make me think is that the 4100 does do the Dolby TruHD / DTS HD audio formats but i have to admit, my YSP1100 sounds too good for me to get rid of it and upgrade to the 4100.

Dan i would recommend a sound bar anyday, specially a Yamaha one as they do perform superbly, as you dont own one yet, it would be wise to go for the 4100 when it comes out but if you can get a 1100 for cheap, then i would say you wont be dissapointed, either option make sure you get a subwoofer, this adds allot to the overall sound you can achieve.

No problem, doodles..........a better idea, were you to keep the machine, is to invest in a proper mains cable for it. I use the Chord Power Chord, but you would need to mess about with the connector, like I did, for it to fit. (£60 per metre at the mo)

The alternative is this:

I don't care what anyone else says on this forum.....these kinda cables really do work to improve the sound and picture quality.....just added my new Power Chord onto the Blu ray player tonight, and am loving the difference from the Clearer Audio alpha lead previously being used.....
