Hello everyone,

I have been extremely unlucky and have had 2 40EX503 that have been faulty from Amazon. The first suffered unacceptable clouding in the top right corner and the replacement has developed a fault where the picture cuts out and i get a purple screen with black vertical lines!

My retailer (Amazon.co.uk) have no more stock of the EX503 and are going to refund me in full which i am happy with as i didn't really want another Sony LCD due to me having 6 sets in under a year that were all faulty!! As you might imagine i now have very little faith in Sony TV's so i am now after your thoughts on an alternative please.

I have a budget of around £800 and have looked at the Panasonic 42G20 plasma but it's a bit over my budget, i've seen it for around £900 but if i could get the price down then i would go for that but i'm open to all suggestions so please help as i don't want to buy yet another faulty TV this year lol.

Many thanks.

Could be interesting if they still haven't resolved the issues from the 5500, QC is really letting them down :(

AEJim,

Yes QC seems to be where the problems lie and the first EX503 i received suffered exactly the same problem as the W5500 i was replacing ie clouding, it was also in exactly the same position as the W5500! It's all well and good adding features to TV's but you would have thought that getting the basics right would be a better place to start lol.

I'm finding it difficult to source a 40c750....the retailers that do have them in stock want over £1000 for the TV, well over my budget. I'm not really interested in 3D but if i can get it included then it's a bonus but i have no plans to invest in the required change in amp, hdmi leads, glasses etc which really bump the cost up considerably plus there is a dearth of 3D content out there at present.

I have got the price of a Panasonic 42G20 down to £838 now and i'm seriously considering this as my replacement but i know nothing about plasma tech, is there anything to worry about as i see only 2 manufacturers currently make plasma tv's (Samsung and Panasonic)?

Thank you for the reply, much appreciated.

Nick.
