Sonos / NAS - Can YOU help a dummy?

Hi all,

Could anyone clarify something for me please?

I want to run a couple of Sonos ZP90's, my music from iTunes and a NAS.

Running Sonos with my laptop seems straight forward but this would mean having my laptop on whenever I want to listen to music, (which is not ideal).

If my music was stored on a NAS, ie Buffalo Linkstation Live, would I still have to have my laptop on to stream music to Sonos??

I'm hoping the answer is no, then I don't have to faff about with my laptop.

I've tried to search for an answer to this but can't find one.

Anyone got any ideas?

I might be wrong here, but i would have thought that if your NAS drive was connected to your router, then the sonos would be able to pick it up from there.

No you do not need your laptop on if using a NAS drive.

Bear in mind that if you don't have an iPhone or a Sonos controller, you would need to operate the Sonos from your laptop (e.g. choosing music to stream / controlling zones).

Buffalo do Linkstation "Pro" and "Live". Does anyone know if one of these is better for this application, (Sonos)?

Buffalo website doesn't really seem to say.

the nas makes no difference for sonos. either will work equally as well.ÿ
