I did ask QED this but had no responce.

I bought a QED SS40 4-Way Speaker Switch about 2 years back only used it very briefly but I will now be setting it up to work with just 2 pairs of speakers that are (8 ohms and 6 ohms)

Q1: The amp I will now be using with this switch is slightly bigger in power. So my question is would this still be ok to use?

Cambridge Audio 640R

2 x 120 watts rms per channel,
8 ohms (two channels driven)

7 x 100 watts rms per channel,
8 ohms (all 7 channels driven)

I will only be using it in 'Stereo mode' with the 2 x 120watt (one set going to living room and 1 set to the kitchen).

Q2: And when only using one pair of speakers at any time through the switch would you lose any sound quality as opposed the speaker going directly to the amp?

Thanks,

Jamie

Specs say it's rated for 150W:

As for whether it makes any difference to the sound, you're better placed than anyone to mak that judgement.
