Yep, dangerous.

I think he sized your system and other belongings up and will be back for his booty ... .

Might wants the cat too.

Never had a struggle with it myself, but then again ensured no one actually came to my house. No idiots offering peanuts or asking silly questions. Guess I must be lucky

I have had harder times trying to sell stuff on known hifi sales website.

No chance. He'll have break into our special windows and locks to do so.

Personally I disliked the whole Ebay experience.
I've sold stuff on eBay before ok with no issues but just before I brought my Yamaha amp and cdplayer I had a clear out of old hifi stuff and traded in my old stuff to the shop I got my Yamaha from .

as I could not be bothered to sell hifi stuff on eBay because sometimes it can sit on eBay and not sell for months and then you got to post heavy items which costs a lot to do . And the shop I traded in the old stuff can give warranty on the old stuff which I can't but helps to sell it . So I lost a little but the why I see it is I got what I was after so I was happy and the shop was happy making a bit of profit .

I certainly never had anything on eBay 'sitting there for months'.

You've obviously priced it wrongly.

Trading in is only good if you buy something.

I've never had any issues selling on eBay either. Sometimes stuff goes for less than expected and sometime I get more than expected but it's always sold.

Occasionally I've needed to click the relist button but very rarely.

My Naim pre- and power amps sold two week's ago to a chap in Moscow. The Paypal fees are bad enough for me, but the buyer had to pay an extra £110 for international postage on top of the £15 for me to send the item to Ebays Global Shipping depot. What a rip off. Anyway, I had my feedback today and the whole process did go smoothly.

A previous Naim pre- and power amp combination sold to a buyer in Bangkok. Luckily enough I was going to Thailand a few weeks later, so I took them on the flight with me for an extra £40 excess luggage charge. The buyer met me at the airport and paid cash.

I always state UK buyers only. Selling abroad is too much hassle.

Selling abroad is no more difficult than selling in the UK apart from the cost of posting / courier. If you cannot be prepared to do this then Mark it as such in your advert.

It is sometimes better to say you will ship abroad but the buyer has to arrange his own courier.

This will, however, depend on weight and size of objects. Sometimes collection only is a necessity.

Whilst I appreciate that much new hifi travels via couriers to shops, they are often larger consignments and thus perhaps handled more carefully, especially if the same carriers are used. Shipping potentially more fragile hifi abroad just introduces unnecessary problems in case of damaged returns. Tracking can also be more problematic in certain countries.

I've never had problems to find buyers for hifi in the UK.
