JohnDuncan:Yes but what does a pear taste like to you...?

Only your mind (read brain) can interpret the information delivered by your taste buds, similarly only your mind can interpret sound and the quality of the sound................... very subjective but factual

It might also be interesting to test if you can hear the difference between a 128kbps mp3 and a 320kbps mp3. The difference should be much much easier to hear than the diff between 30kbps and lossless... On this site you can do a simple AB/X test (of course, try it more than like 10 times 🙂

I'm quite happy with my result 😀

Sorry to be a bit of bore but if you can hear difference between AIFF and Apple Lossless: it has to be in your mind. Lossless is just a compression technology which will give you full AIFF-like quality on playback. If you would convert your Lossless file back to AIFF it would be identical to your original AIFF flie.

I like the way someone else put it. If they would have called it audio zip everyone would understand that no data is lost during the compression.

I've found no reason to disagree with this yet. Lossless is...well, you know how it goes.

Yep, had a listen. took the test and we're OK, got a bit tedious after 5 tests, so at least I know I can hear a difference

Just not that obvious at 320kbs and above...................that's OK though, at least it has solved a dilemma as to what I should rip cds as!!
