I would like peoples thoughts on the best rears to go with my current onkyo 905 and B&W 805s/HTM4s front channel set up. They must be mounted on the wall at the ceiling junction because of wiring constraints.

The room is 5metres wide (tv at centre point of wall, speakers are 3.5 metres apart). listening position is 3m from the TV. distance from listening position to the rear wall is 2.5m and the height at which the speakers will be mounted is 3m.

The room opens out to the right and left of the listening position by another 4 metres either side and so is actually a very large area.

I will only be using them for home cinema as i do not listen to any multichannel music.

Just for reference, i am thinking of adding another amp to drive the front channel for stereo.

for aesthetics, the obvious options are the B&W m1s or the kefs but am not sure these will be upto the task in such a large room and so far behind and above the listening positioning (i can use the odyssey calibration to manage this). the other option would be the B&W SCMS (essentially a squashed 805s) but that is a lot of cash for only surround sound.

Any ideas folks.?

Or you could use these, which are designed for just such a use.

i bought four of these to go with my 876 to make a 7.1 setup - they are really neat and once mounted are as invisable as you will ever get - gf was a lot happier when I got rid of all the othes on stands i used to use - they give out plenty of ambient noise creating a great set up would really recommend

my room is also about same size as yours 5.5m by 5.5m - don't get put off by the size of the speakers these or the b&W your thinking of as you re route most of the bass to your sub anyway so they don't take much stick and easily fill a room with sound

I was very impressed with the Q-AV rears which I put up a couple of weeks ago - they do everything that they claim.

BUT, a word of warning, (if you are married) my wife didn't like the shape! So make sure your lady is happy with them before they are installed.

I've had to take them down and replace them with conventional speakers
